Another project down and...no baby yet :(

I've been looking at blessing dresses on and off recently and haven't seemed to find anything that I like that isn't as expensive as my wedding dress. I really wanted something simple and not really frilly frumpy (I think sometimes babies look like they're suffocating in those dresses). So, I decided to be brave and take on the incredible challenge of making my own. I also thought this would give me more to do while I sit around waiting for this baby to come out. I'm getting really anxious if you haven't noticed :) I went to Joanns and got the pattern fabric and everything else that I would need. I spent yesterday and some of today working on the dress. It's actually the first project that I've really, truley sewn (sticking to the pattern, directions, etc). It definitely was a challenge and I learned a lot from it such as, how to sew a button hole (my sewing machine is really cool), casing, and last but not least how to interpret the sewing directions. I think most of my time was spent looking confused at the directions asking myself, "what does that mean" or "what in the world is that picture supposed to be?". It was an adventure and I am happy it's done. It's always so nice to finish and see the end result. I think it turned out pretty good, not perfect by any means, but good enough. I hope it fits, I kind of had to guess seeing as I don't really know when she will be blessed and a one month difference for a newborn really is big.

Cortney that's such a cute dress. Very classy. Those are my favorite type of dresses. I need to learn to sew sometime so I can be creative like that. :) I found a list online when I was waiting for Jack called 1000 things to do while you're waiting for baby, or something like that, and it actually helped me not feel like every hour was a day while we waited for this 'time bomb' status to end. It had things to do with your spouse if they were available, or things to do at home for you, things I didn't think about doing for the baby, etc. etc. I think if you just go to google and type in waiting for baby, or something it comes up with it. Good luck! We're so excited for you guys! Parenthood is such a wonderful thing, but the last little while before Jack came was a really special time with James too. It helped me to remember that this was going to be the last time we'd be together alone with out me thinking about children, etc. Things will change between your marriage in the next few months two as you adjust, so I remember it being nice to have the last few days before he came with James just to make sure he knew he was still the love of my life even if my priorities as a mom would be taking over in the next little while. In the hard times with the baby blues I would just look back on those times and it helped out. Anyways, this is a hugely long comment so I think I'll end. Cute dress again, and we're excited for you guys!

Wow, I am very impressed. I think the only thing I could have helped with was maybe picking out the buttons :)
